About the club

Catus Cricket Club, founded in 2004 by cricket loving expats playing on coconut matting, is an inclusive, multicultural team of cricketing enthusiasts based close to the picturesque Lac Vert in the village of Catus near Cahors in the Lot department of South West France. 

The Club plays in the Southern Region of the Association Des Clubs de Cricket du Sud Ouest (ACCSO) league from May to July, and in the Blevins Franks Cup and the ACCSO T20 from July to September, hosting and playing away teams from as far away as Toulouse and Saint Aulaye.

Catus CC are the 2024 ACCSO League Champions!

Over almost 20 years the team has been made up of players from at least seven different countries and four different continents with an ages ranging from 19 to 65. We are always looking to welcome new supporters and players of all abilities.

The delights of small-town cricket in southwest France

This week I am in southwest France ....

This week I am in southwest France, visiting friends who spend their summer in the valley of the Lot River. It flows westwards in a tortuous fashion for 485 km, joining the Garonne, which then flows northwest to the city of Bordeaux and on to the Atlantic Ocean.

It is my first visit to this region, which is famous for wine production. I am aware that cricket is played in France, having taken a team to play near Versailles for a number of years around the turn of the 21st century.

On this basis, it seemed a reasonable assumption that cricket would be played in the southwest. A little research revealed the existence of an Association des Clubs de Cricket du Sud-Ouest, founded in 1992. It comprises 10 clubs …..
