Match report 2021

Match Report Catus versus Toulouse, 18th July

 

Well after 3 cancelled games due to bad weather, a very positive win against the Toulouse Wolves, Catus were very confident for their next game against Toulous bears. Being the only club in the south west to use animal names, you could be a bit lost here. Is this another David Atitenborough's documentary? If only it was.

Wolves batted first and and opening bowlers, Boby and Atik kept them them under control and a lot of edges not going to hand.

After 25 overs, Toulouse were 116 for 4. ( overs reduced to 35 because of the heat )
Unfortunately, Toulouse had wickets in hand and some big hitters and finished the 35 overs at 198 for 8.

So were Catus worried, never, 198 on our ground is always possible, but only if you bat well. So the start of Catus's innings, all eyes were on the openers ,Sutton and Farouk? It wasn't long until all eyes were on Farouk and Rahim, then Rahim and Pavil? then !!! Think you all get the picture. Once again our batting let us down.
All out for 115.

The only compensation was to watch our opening bowlers, Boby and Atik, bat better than the rest of the team. Atik retired hurt for 29 ( think he just wanted a drink) and Boby N/O and stranded on 14.

Best bowlers for Catus were Atik 2 for 28 off 6 and Rahim 2 for 33 off 7. For Toulouse, Michael 4 for 35 off 6 overs and Abhishek 3 for 27 off 6 overs.

Well done Toulouse Bears, a well diserved win. Re-match in 2 weeks.

Thanks also to Mr Pres. who was ouir second umpire along with Mal and many thanks to Anthony who gave up his day of decorating to score for us. Never seen a score book so correctly filled in. Damazan this weekend for double points.
