Match Report Catus versus Damazan, 27th May

Damazan is one of the nicest grounds we play at. Sight screens, changing facilities, scoreboard, well kept outfield offering good value for good cricket shots played. So, on a day when the weather was uncertain the captains agreed to a 30 over match to allow the game to be finished before the rains came (due at five) it was anticipated that a fast scoring hybrid 30/30 match would ensue.

Lacking form with the bat, Catus elected to set a target and that's where it all started to go wrong. Pavil showed application and some resistance to temptation with a steady 16, the only player from the first six to get in to double figures. Rasel top scored with a creditable 30 and the innings closed with Catus all out for 94 after 23 overs.

Thankfully, the Catus attack is performing well at the moment but with a target of 95 it was always going to be a struggle, so when four catches are dropped the task becomes virtually imposable. Shafik was the pick of the bowlers taking two wickets for 11 runs but Damazan reached the required score with five overs to spare and four wickets in hand.

All this meant we comfortably missed the rain, getting home by six, the grand total score accumulated in the car going home was one, and Catus CC are rivalling England for under performance with the bat.
